All About Chemical Reactions
Synthesis
2 or more reactants combine to form one product.
Double Displacement
Two compounds switch ions.
Decomposition
1 reactant breaks down to form two or more products.
Combustion
The burning of a hydrocarbon with an oxygen gas present to produce carbon dioxide and water.
Single Displacement
An element reacts with a compound and the similar elements switch spots.
Redox Rxn
Keeps track of the movement of electrons.
Here is a diagram to visualize the types of reactions, Redox Rxn's aren't pictured because it is all based on checking the movement on a balanced equation. A reactions could be labeled as Synthesis and Redox.
